Marblehead, MA, October 2025 – The Nassau County Police Department recently took delivery of a 21’ RIBCRAFT 6.5 for their Marine Bureau. Purpose-built to support the agency’s evolving mission needs, the new RIB will enhance public safety operations on the water, particularly in dive and explosive ordinance disposal response. 

 Headquartered in Bay Park, New York on Long Island’s south shore, the Marine Bureau patrols Nassau County’s 225 square miles of waterways. The new boat will serve primarily as a dive platform and be used by the department’s bomb squad for bomb disposal and improvised explosive device (IED) mitigation operations. The patrol boat can be trailered and launched as needed, allowing the department to respond quickly anywhere within the county. It will typically operate with a crew of four to six personnel, supporting a wide range of tactical and public safety missions.

Powered by a 150HP Honda outboard, the boat reaches speeds in excess of 36mph while still providing unparalleled safety and unsurpassed performance. Equipped with a dark grey multi-chambered heavy-duty Hypalon tube complete with bow reinforcing, boarding wear patches, the RIBCRAFT 6.5 provides a durable, stable, and seaworthy platform regardless of the operational waters and sea conditions. The electronics package includes a LED law enforcement light bar, Whelen Hailer/Siren, 360 degree scene lighting, Furuno GPS and radar.
